Foxy Furniture Gazette, Issue #5
July 18, 2005
Dear Friends, It seemed appropriate to add a news letter of sorts to our website. We have reached the one year mark since we launched Foxy Furniture and introduced the Criss-Cross. It has been a busy year - and we've come much further than we ever had dreamt. We at Foxy Furniture would like to thank all of you out there for helping to make our first year of business a success. So many of you have shared your thoughts and ideas with us these past twelve months and we always enjoy hearing from you. And to those first customers back then, we especially thank you for taking that leap of faith and ordering on line from us - a new product concept - and then taking the time to share your warm comments and positive feedback with us. Thank you one and all. We never thought we would burn out the motor on our table saw in such a short period of time... On another note, we began exhibiting our products at BDSM trade shows, to reach folks - 'up close and personal. Our first show, the annual GWWN Bash here in Austin, was a terrific success. This past spring we were at South Plains Leatherfest in Dallas, followed by the Houston S&M Ball. We then ventured beyond Texas to the "show me" state for "Beat Me in St. Louis". Last month, it was International Mr. Leather in Chicago. And last week, we exhibited at the Lifestyles Convention in Las Vegas (a swingers group as a marketing experiment). Whew! What a wonderful way to meet enthusiastic people of like minds! So much energy abounds at these events for attendees as well many other venders. It was difficult to feel tired even after a long road trip and then having to "set up shop" upon arrival. If any of you out there have ever considered attending an event (such as any of the above mentioned, or one closer to home), and have not yet done so, we highly recommend such an adventure! We were awed by the number of you who made a special point of seeking out our booth because you had already visited our website, and came to see us when you had learned we would be vending at the show. Many of you - after seeing our furniture for the first time - brought friends back to the booth to show them our work. Money cannot buy that type of advertising. Thank you! Upcoming trade shows include Thunder in the Mountains July 22-24 in Denver and Living in Leather September 16-18 in Oklahoma City. If you're going to either event, please stop by and say Howdy. We are happy to say, that we are ever so close to finally introducing our newest piece(s). We believe they will be stylish additions to any "vanilla" household, as well as sleek dungeon play equipment. These things seem to take so long to reach marketability. All the other factors aside, safety is of paramount importance to us. Getting glitches out of the designs for our furniture which is also intended for transformation into safe, structurally sound play pieces is often tedious and frustrating. Each prototype is tested many times, remade, retested again and again until we are completely satisfied with the end product. Needless to say, all that tedious testing is often the best part of the whole process. And on a final note: After many inquiries about the possibility of crafting our pieces from wood other than American Pine, we are happy to be able to say, Yes, we can! Please note - all prices listed on the Web site are for pine. Due to wide variances in the many hardwood prices, we would need to price each piece according to whatever the wood's unique cost might be... So, this about wraps up this first "issue" of the Foxy Furniture Gazette. Please feel free to contact us with any questions or comments about us, our website, or our pieces. We would love to hear from you!
Thank you!
